- We pretest all of our trips before we select a trip for you. Sometimes we see as many as 10 trips in a single country before we select the one we know is the best. This way … you are ensured a great vacation!
- Our top priority on a trip is the care and well being of the horses. Horse care is paramount; we are looking for happy, healthy and well-cared-for horses. We check veterinary records and living conditions. If they’re not excellent, we do not choose this tour.
- Our guides must be kind, warm, with a sense of humor, knowledgeable and possess a “nothing is too much trouble” attitude. This is also true of our instructors. The right guide or instructor can make or break a trip. Our guides are local to the area in which you are traveling. We want to give you an authentic experience in the country in which you’re traveling; not an American experience.
- Scenery - we believe in “slow” travel, and being responsible to the environment. The scenery you will see on a Cross Country International trip is always unique, gorgeous and breathtaking; giving you memories to carry with you throughout your life. However, it is important to us that our children and our children’s children will be able to experience these fragile environments in the future, so we practice “no trace left behind” and our guides continually discuss with our clients the importance of responsible travel.
- Accommodations – on every trip you take with Cross Country International the accommodations are different, but must always be very comfortable. You may stay in a charming inn as opposed to a five star hotel because the inn is 300 years old and carries more history of the area, but … you will also be assuredly comfortable with a guaranteed private bathroom in your room. You may also stay in a five star hotel if the hotel is the most authentic accommodations in the area. We have weighed all of the options and authenticity trumps the day.
- Equipment and tack is checked regularly. We ask our clients for weekly feedback, and we visit the facilities ourselves each year to make sure that the equipment, transport, tack, stables, and horses are in excellent, healthy condition.
- Our clients travel solo, with their daughters, whole families, husbands, wives, friends. We understand this and have special departures to meet all of our clients’ demands. Clients can even customize their own trips.
- Most of our trips include all lodging with private baths, all meals, snacks and beverages between meals, expertise and service of our experienced guides and instructors, transportation from airports and to excursion, guided tours of museums, historic sites, wineries and other select attractions such as the Spanish riding school in Vienna, the Evita Peron museum in Buenos Aires, tango lessons, comprehensive travel planner with detailed trip information, special events including wine tasting and other culinary experience, equipment, fares for trains and other travel noted in travel planner, baggage transport ….
