European Training in Upstate New York

Located in the heart of New York State's hunt country, this program offers training in Hunt Seat Equitation to riders from novice to advanced abilities. Just two hours drive from New York City and its airports and set in the rolling hills, meadows and woods of the Hudson River Valley, this wonderfully designed equestrian center is a delight.

The center is owned and managed by Paul and Geraldine Lindsay. Paul trained with the famous Irish Army Equitation School before joining Iris Kellett as one of her most popular instructors. Paul is a British Horse Society rated instructor. Gerry rode her great Irish Sport Horse, Penny Sparkle, to success in Europe and the U.S. Paul and Gerry set the standard for which the farm is known.

The farm sits on 70 beautiful acres and is equipped with a very large indoor arena, an outdoor arena and a stabling area set around a European-style courtyard. Accommodations are with private bath and are on the farm or nearby B&B.

Guests arrive on Monday and begin their hunt seat training on Tuesday. The program is tailored to the ability and goals of each rider. Paul and Gerry believe that much of their job is to help the rider find his or her confidence and natural balance. Each day of this four day/four night program consists of lessons on the flat or over fences, and lectures to further the rider's knowledge.

Key to the success of the program is the use of experienced instructors who are skilled in the art of bringing out the best in each individual. In addition, the horses used in the program are all Irish Sport Horses of considerable quality.

This program is especially helpful to riders who have reached a plateau in their training and need an extra boost. It is also beneficial to beginners who want to begin their riding under truly professional instruction.
