Train with Olympic Dressage Rider Debbie McDonald

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from one of the country’s all-time best riders

Millbrook, NY—February 14, 2008—Cross Country International, the world’s leading provider of equestrian vacations, is partnering with Dover Saddlery to offer a new training vacation with Olympic Dressage rider Debbie McDonald. The trip combines the thrill of riding with an Olympic medalist with the luxury accommodations of Scotland’s famous five-start resort, Gleneagles.

“There has never been a better opportunity to train with one of the world’s best riders,” said Karen Lancaster, Cross Country International President. “This vacation gives riders personal instruction from an Olympic medalist to help them improve their overall riding and education.”

Debbie McDonald is an accomplished and well-respected dressage rider. She became the first U.S. rider to hold the title of Dressage World Cup Champion following the 2003 World Cup Dressage Finals in Sweden. Riding her legendary partner, Brentina, she also won an Olympic team Bronze medal in Athens in 2004. McDonald’s record with Brentina stands alone as the most successful of any horse-and-rider combination in U.S. dressage history. McDonald has also been honored with both the USEF Equestrian of the Year and the USOC Female Equestrian Athlete of the Year awards.

While on this unique riding vacation, riders will participate in four days of riding that focus on educating the rider and improving their dressage work. Each rider will receive an individual evaluation from McDonald to asses their current skill level, and work toward improving their riding while on Gleneagles’s quality horses.

Non-riding companions are welcome to come along as Gleneagles is the perfect resort destination for equestrians and non-riders alike. Guests are invited to take part in the many outdoor and sport activities Gleneagles has to offer, including Champion golf courses, tennis and falconry lessons. Later in the day, companions can reunite to enjoy the gourmet cuisine and luxury accommodations of Scotland’s finest hotel.
